Camp includes two days of sessions led by special guest coaches:
- Barb Yackel - specialty Choreography & jump technique
- Rodrigo Menendez - specialty - pole harness
- Rosie Hanson - specialty USFS Skating Skills & spins
- Kelly Corcoran Smith - specialty style, performance and choreography
Camp will include: Jump Technique, Spin Technique, Moves in the Field, Strength & Conditioning, Choreography, and Off-ice Sessions.
Lunch & Snacks will be served.
* APPROPRIATE SKATING ATTIRE SHOULD BE WORN INCLUDING TENNIS SHOES. NO SWEAT PANTS OR HOODED SWEATSHIRTS *
Campers will be broken down into 3 groups:
- Advance Camp - PRE-PRELIMINARY AND UP - *can currently be IN pre-preliminary

- Saturday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
- Sunday 8:15 am -2:45pm
- $125 for SVFSC Members, $150 for non members
- Learn To Skate Camp - BASIC 4 - FREESKATE 6 - *can currently be IN basic 4 (no pass required)
- Saturday 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
- Sunday 8:15 am - 1:30 pm
- $80 for SVFSC Members, $100 for non members
- Learn To Skate Camp - SNOW PLOW SAM - BASIC 3
- $40 and is only for SVFSC Members.
- Saturday 9:45 pm - 1 pm
- and Sunday 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
- Parents of skaters in this group must stay for the duration of their skaters camp time. Parents are expected to put their child's skates on/off, help them with the bathroom if needed, and help their child during lunch to get their food and clean up after themselves.

Barb Yackel

Her passion for helping young people grown and develop skills, work ethic, heart and determination is top notch! She is a PSA Master Rated coach and former Minnesota Freestyle & Upper Great Lakes Champion also competing on the national stage Barb has gone full circle in her skating career that spans 40+ years as a skater, coach, skating mom, choreographer, skating director and administrator. Coaching is her 1st love and she is recognized throughout the skating community as tops in her field.
Rosie Hanson

Rosie has been part of the POP camp for 18 years sharing her fun loving personality and energy. She is a U.S Figure Skating double Gold Medalist and former Upper Great Lakes & Midwest Pair Champion. She toured with Holiday on Ice and Ice Follies for 7 years. Currently Rosie coaches at the Braemar City of Lakes FSC working with competitive skaters and synchro teams. Her enthusiasm and love for the sport is unmatched!
Rodrigo Menéndez

Rodrigo Menéndez was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. He is a former 3 time Mexican National Champion in 3 different levels. He also performed for Disney on Ice for 10 years Rodrigo has been coaching for 11 years and is a Pole Harness technician. He holds a PSA Ratings in Free Skating and Group.
Kelly Corcoran Smith

Kelly is a figure skating performer, choreographer, stylist, director and producer. He currently directs the Sport Quest Skating Academy annual show at Parade Ice Garden in Minneapolis, as well as the Big Gay Ice Show in Aspen, Colorado. In addition to his regular shows, Smith conducts seminars, stages productions and serves figure skating clients across the United States and World from his bases in Minneapolis and Denver.
A three-time United States figure skating gold medalist, Smith also received a silver medal in pairs and is a five-time Midwestern Sectional competitor and former Minnesota State Champion. He has skated professionally for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Broadway on Ice, Knott’s Berry Farm, Robin Cousins, Beaver Creek Resorts and numerous national and international touring shows. He also was an assistant director and blocker for many NBC Sports Professional Skating Specials.
Smith holds a B.S.B.A in marketing and musical performance from the University of Denver, where he was the first president of the university’s intercollegiate skating team. After touring and performing, he returned to the school as its head figure skating coach for many years. Smith continues to work with skaters from all across the country on style and performance.

Katie was one of the first members of Southern Valley Figure Skating Club, she has been active in skating for 35+ years. Katie represented SVFSC for most of her competitive skating career and started her coaching career in the first apprenticeship program offered by SVFCS. Katie built a successful skating school in Brookings, SD, Huron, SD and Watertown, SD. She has also judged Leap N' Compete competitions for SVFSC for several years.

Skating is my passion! I am a Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field, as I have completed the senior moves in the field test. I am currently working on my Junior Freeskate. I still skate for myself as there is no better way to learn than to practice. I have skated with SVFSC since 2001 and have been coaching with them for 9 years. I also coach for the Fergus Falls Figure Skating Club. I spent 1 year coaching abroad in Osby, Sweden and traveling for competitions with Osby figure skaters. I want skaters to be successful but loving to skate and having fun is most important!
